Guest Information and Advice

Introduction

This access statement does not contain any personal opinions as to the suitability of Nuns Cottage for those with accessibility needs, but aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that we offer to all our guests.

Nuns Cottage Bed and Breakfast is a charming Grade II Listed cottage formerly 3 separate dwellings dating back to the 1800’s and named after a site on which it stands named ‘Nuns Closes’, where a medieval nunnery was situated.

There are narrow corridors, low ceilings and uneven floors in areas. The windows are timber single glazed Georgian sash windows in keeping with the buildings Grade II listing. There are low ceilings in the dining room and the landing areas within Nuns Cottage due to the age of the building.

The entrance to Nuns Cottage has large green metal gates with simple sliding bolt giving way to the pretty courtyard which has garden seating for our guests enjoyment. There is a block paved area directly inside the gates, which has a 14cm step down into a further area of courtyard, of slightly uneven stone paving, followed by a further 4 stone steps to the cottage level of courtyard and the front entrance. The paving throughout the courtyard garden is characterful and uneven in many places.

Inside Nuns Cottage guests will find a standard staircase with a turn, and a split level landing. The building been lovingly decorated and attractively furnished by the current owners to provide a comfortable and captivating bed & breakfast for up to four guests currently. 100% wool carpeting adds a touch of luxury to our guest areas and to preserve the quality and cleanliness of this we ask all our guests to adhere to our shoes off policy and leave outdoor footwear in the boot trays provided in the guest lobby. We do provide slippers for our guests who don’t bring their own.

Although we do not have animals in the guest bedrooms, anyone with an allergy to pet fur will not find the accommodation suitable as we have a dog in the building.
